
Liver Infection Treatment
‘Hepatitis’ is a term used to describe the Inflammation or the Swelling of the Liver cells or the Hepatocytes. It is a ‘Silent Killer’.
Causes of Hepatitis:
Hepatitis is commonly caused by a Viral Infection, but there are many other possible causes of Hepatitis. These include Autoimmune Hepatitis (Our own body makes Antibodies & attacks our own Liver Tissues), NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis) and it can also be caused with usage of some Medications, Drugs, Toxins, Exposure to Poisons, Other Infections, Industrial Solvents & Wastes and particularly Alcohol Abuse.
Symptoms of Hepatitis:
Many people with Hepatitis do not show any symptoms but others develop Jaundice, Loss of Appetite, Fever, Nausea, Vomiting Sensation, Extreme Tiredness, Abdominal Pain, Diarrhoea, Yellowish Urine, Light coloured Stools, Unexplained Weight Loss etc.
Acute vs. Chronic Hepatitis:
Some forms of Hepatitis are Mild and some are Serious. Acute Hepatitis resolves on its own within 6 months; if it progresses for more than 6 months then it is called Chronic Hepatitis, which sometimes leads to progressive Liver damage, Scarring or Fibrosis of Liver, Liver Cirrhosis, Liver Failure, Liver Cancer& Death.
Types of Hepatitis Viruses:
Viruses that attack the Liver cells are called Hepatitis Viruses. These viruses alone attribute to more than 50% of Hepatitis in people. There are 6 types of Hepatitis Viruses including types A, B, C, D, E, & G. Hepatitis A, B, C are the most common.
All Hepatitis Viruses can cause ‘Acute Hepatitis’. Viral Hepatitis B& C can cause ‘Chronic Hepatitis’. Hepatitis A & E are mainly Water Borne or spreads by Contaminated Food & Water. Hepatitis B is transmitted & spreads through Blood & Body Fluids & through Sexual Contact and can be passed from Mother to Child during Pregnancy & Child birth. Hepatitis C is spread through Blood such as Sharing or Reusing Needles, Syringes; Intravenous Drug Users etc. Hepatitis D can be seen in those people who are already infected with Hepatitis B. Hepatitis G is recently discovered and is closely resembles that of Hepatitis C and its role in Humans is not clear.
